International Students

The ISN mentor program is for all foreign students who are coming to study at Leiden University. It can make 'your' time in The Netherlands more pleasant and fun!!! Through the mentor program, foreign students can meet Dutch students and learn more about the local culture, the great Dutch student life and the do's and don’ts of Leiden! ;-)

It works very simple...

With the help of students from Leiden University (mostly Dutch natives from the various academic faculties) ISN will introduce and guide you through the popular sights and lesser known attractions in our Leiden "universe." The mentor helps international students settle in during the first couple of weeks and stay better informed through the semester. If your mentor has the time he or she will try to pick you up from the airport and help you to get to your accommodation etc. Your mentor is also a local you can always rely on to help guide you and explain the workings of your host country.

When you sign up for the mentor program I will try to match you to a mentor group where people have the same interests, are around the same age and have the same field of study. With the mentor program you get the opportunity to meet people easily and a mentor you can rely on! You should remember though, that the mentor program is a social program, so not ONLY about giving you help during your first weeks but the purpose is also to do nice things as a group.

Mentor worden?

Ben je een enthousiaste Nederlandse student en zou je het leuk vinden om internationale studenten op weg te helpen en te begeleiden en daarnaast met een persoonlijk toegewezen groepje ISN feestjes afgaan, naar de wekelijkse woensdagborrels in de Einstein gaan, of ze te laten zien wat jij vindt dat ze moeten meemaken in Nederland? Geef je dan nu op om een van onze mentoren te worden! Elke mentorgroep zal uit twee of meerdere mentoren bestaan en 8-15 buitenlandse studenten. Weet je iemand die ook graag mentor zou willen worden? Dan kunnen jullie je ook samen opgeven!
